Homemade Grilled Chicken Shawarma Recipe | Food Celebrations
Ingredients:
For the marination
Boneless chicken thighs 500g
Paprika powder 1 tsp
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Cumin 1 tsp
Chilli flakes 1/2 tsp
Pepper 1 tsp
Garlic powder 1 tsp
Cinnamon powder 1/2 tsp
All spice/ garam masala 1/2 tsp
Chat masala 1/2 tsp (Optional)
Tomato sauce 1 tbsp
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Oil 1 tbsp
For the salad
Carrots, cabbage, onions, bell peppers,
cucumbers, tomatoes cut in julienne
Vinegar 1 tbsp
Oil 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Pepper 1/2 tsp
Sauce preparation
Mayonnaise 2 tbsp
Yogurt 2 tbsp
Pepper 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Garlic powder 1/2 tsp
Mustard paste 1 tbsp
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Dough Preparation
Whole wheat flour 1 cup
All-purpose flour 1 cup
Salt to taste
Yeast 1 tbsp
Sugar 1 tbsp
Oil 1 tbsp
Method:
Marinate the chicken with all the spices and allow to rest for at least 30 minutes. Then grill the chicken. Prepare the salad and sauce by mixing all the ingredients. Prepare the dough and allow to rest for one hour. Then roll the dough and cook the pita bread on both sides on a pan. Assemble the shawarma by placing the salad on the pita bread. Add the mayo sauce, tomato sauce, chicken strips, jalapenos, olives and then roll. It is now ready to serve.
